"Household Hazards: Potential Hazards of Home Cleaning Products" is a new report by Women's Voices for the Earth, a national US women's environmental health and justice group based in Montana, which examines 5 types of chemicals commonly found in household cleaners. These five chemicals are of concern to women and children especially, as they are linked to increases in either asthma or reproductive harm such as birth defects or fertility problems.

Recent research conducted by the Ecology Center, a Michigan USA based environmental group has found that chemicals such as chlorine, bromine and lead  which have been linked to cancer, liver, thyroid and developmental problems in children are in high concentrations in some popular children’s car seats.

When Rick Roberts, founder of The Natural Paint Place, had children it changed his life in a way he never expected.

“Having children inspired me to want to do something to help our environment. I initially started the business as soon as my first child was born and I left a secure job because I felt like I needed to do something to send the right message to my children,” said Rick.
